Draft vs Queued Status

Control automatic publishing with draft and queued status options

Draft status saves posts on calendar without auto-publishing. Queued status enables automatic background publishing. Toggle between states to control which scheduled posts publish automatically and which need manual action.

How to Use

  1. 1Open scheduler with post ready
  2. 2Show "Save as draft" checkbox
  3. 3Display explanation: "Drafts won't auto-publish"
  4. 4Check "Save as draft"
  5. 5Schedule the post
  6. 6Show post appearing on calendar in amber/yellow (draft color)
  7. 7Demonstrate scheduled time passing without publish
  8. 8Edit the draft post
  9. 9Uncheck "Save as draft" - converting to queued
  10. 10Show post color changing to blue (queued)
  11. 11Display "Will publish automatically" message
  12. 12Show background publishing picking up queued post
  13. 13Show post publishing automatically at scheduled time

Key Features

  • Two Status Types - Draft (manual) or Queued (automatic)
  • Draft Status - Posts saved on calendar but won't auto-publish
  • Queued Status - Posts publish automatically at scheduled time
  • Toggle Control - Checkbox to switch between states
  • Color Coding - Draft (amber) vs Queued (blue) visual distinction
  • Calendar Filtering - Filter calendar by status
  • Automatic Detection - Background publishing only processes queued posts
  • Status Conversion - Edit to change draft to queued or vice versa
  • Scheduled Time Preservation - Status change doesn't affect scheduling
  • Bulk Status Change - Future: convert multiple drafts to queued
  • Safety Feature - Drafts prevent accidental publishing
  • Flexibility - Choose per-post whether to auto-publish

Why You'll Love It

Sometimes you want to schedule a post but not commit to automatic publishing - maybe it needs approval, final review, or situational decision. Draft status gives you that flexibility while keeping posts organized on your calendar.

Pro Tips

  • Use drafts for posts pending approval or review
  • Use queued for confirmed posts ready to publish automatically
  • Convert draft to queued after approval - just edit and toggle
  • Color coding makes status obvious when scanning calendar
  • Drafts don't count toward menu bar badge (only queued posts)
  • Filter to drafts to see what needs finalization
  • Queued posts publish automatically - no action needed
  • Draft posts can have past times - they're manual anyway
  • Status preserved when duplicating posts
  • Switch status anytime before publish time
